3.1
The officers of the faculty shall be the Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. Terms for the faculty officers shall begin May 1 and last for a twelve-month period.
3.2
The Chair shall develop agendas for, and preside over, all meetings of the full faculty. The Secretary, for all meetings of the full faculty, shall send out meeting invitations and agendas, take and send out meeting minutes, and provide access to faculty materials. Additionally, the Secretary shall work with the Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs to develop and retain all pertinent document information. The Vice Chair may chair a committee in the absence of that committee chairperson and may sit in on other committees. If the Secretary position remains vacant, the Vice Chair will fulfill the duties of both Vice Chair and Secretary.
3.2.1
Generally, if the Chair is unable to fill a specific aspect of the position, the Vice Chair will take their place. If both the Chair and Vice Chair are unavailable, the Secretary shall serve.
3.3
The Chair shall be elected by a majority vote of the eligible full-time faculty; thereafter, the Vice Chair shall succeed to the position of Chair. The Vice Chair and Secretary shall be elected in the spring of each year following the relevant procedures in Chapter 4.2 of these bylaws. The Secretary position is annually renewable by majority vote of eligible, full-time Faculty.
3.4
In the event that the Chair is recalled or unable to complete their term of office, the Vice Chair succeeds the Chair and serves the remainder of the term. A special election is held to fill the open position of Vice Chair following the relevant procedures in Chapter 4.2 of these bylaws. In the event that the Vice Chair is recalled or unable to complete their term of office, an election is held to fill the open position of Vice Chair following the relevant procedures in Chapter 4.2 of these bylaws.
3.5
The Chair and Vice Chair, being elected representatives of the faculty, are subject to recall by the faculty. Either officer may be recalled by a two-thirds vote of the voting members present at a meeting of the faculty scheduled or called according to procedures outlined in Chapter 4.1.1 or Chapter 4.1.2 of these bylaws. If a recall motion is made for a particular officer, the officer not being recalled shall be in charge. If recall motions for both officers are made, the CAO shall be in charge.
3.6
Officer Stipend or Release Time
3.6.1
During the term of service, the Chair will receive either a stipend equivalent to, or release time from 6-credit hours, the Vice Chair 1.5-credit hours, and the Secretary 1.5-credit hours. If the Secretary position remains vacant, the Vice Chair will receive a total of 3 credits of stipend or release in this scenario. Stipends will be paid in equal monthly installments during the individual’s term of service.
3.6.2
Stipends will be budgeted and paid for through Human Resources.
