Criminal Justice, BS

The purpose of the criminal justice major is to prepare the student to understand the application of research-based theory, legal guidelines, and ethical principles to the practical functioning of the criminal justice system.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to demonstrate the ability to use the research methods used in the study of crime.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical and legal foundations of criminal justice.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the operations of the criminal justice system.
  • Students will be able to explain the types of ethical issues and social inequalities, diversity and human rights issues that exist within the criminal justice system.
