PA 590 - Research Seminar

Research Seminar is a capstone experience designed to synthesize and apply the comprehensive knowledge gained throughout the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. In this seminar, students undertake the development of a program evaluation for a public program within their chosen area of emphasis. This hands-on project allows students to demonstrate their mastery of the MPA program outcomes, including graduate-level writing skills adhering to APA format, advanced critical thinking abilities, and an in-depth understanding of their specialization through the application of appropriate research methodologies. The seminar culminates in the presentation of findings that reflect integration of theoretical and practical aspects of public administration. This course is pivotal in preparing students to analyze, synthesize, and effectively address complex problems, articulate and apply a public service perspective, lead and manage within public governance structures, and communicate effectively with a diverse and evolving workforce and citizenry. 

Prerequisites: Completion of all core and area of emphasis courses or permission of the program director.
